A technical indicator used to assess the balance between fleet capacity and fishing opportunities. Capacity utilisation can be calculated as the ratio between the average number of days at sea and the maximum number of days at sea achieved per fleet segment.
This indicator gives a simple measure of potential capacity in a given fleet segment over time. Kilowatts (kW) and or Gross tonnage (GT) can be incorporated into the calculation to give a better assessment.
